Product description
Built between 1712 and 1732, The Long Room is the main chamber of the Old Library in Trinity College, Dublin. To step into the Long Room is to step back in time. It is a most imposing room at nearly 65 meters in length and holding 200,000 of the Library’s oldest books. It is easy to see why it is considered one of the most impressive libraries in the world.
It is a fitting building to hold man of Ireland’s national treasures including a medieval harp known as the Brian Boru harp (the model for the emblem of Ireland), a rare copy of the 1916 Proclamation of the Irish Republic and the Book of Kells.
The Long Room is presented here in a beautiful painting by Dublin native, Fran Leavy. You can see more of Fran’s wonderful work at www.fabcow.ie.
